Main interest The Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Rabin Medical Center is the leading department in Israel. With close to 1000 adult open heart operations, 400 general thoracic operations and 400 pediatric cardiac operations (at our stand-alone children's hospital), our team is in charge of nearly 25% of Israel's cardiothoracic procedures. Half of Israel's heart transplants and virtually the entire countries' lung transplants (47 lung transplants in 2009) are performed at the department of cardiothoracic surgery at Rabin Medical Center. Our center is also the leading center in Israel for complex aortic surgery, performing close to 100 thoracic aortic aneurysm surgeries annually.
